WPNEC Stable Pricing

Over the last 10 months your Equestrian Victoria Board has tackled the significant financial deficit it inherited with great energy and attention to detail. They have assiduously tracked the budgets of all EV operations and are now beginning to recover our financial position.

So it is with the same attention to detail that the EV members on the WPNEC Board have analysed the costs involved in hiring and maintaining all aspects of stabling at WPNEC . This process has culminated in the new pricing system for WPNEC stable hire. WPNEC is not subsidized, must pay all of its own costs and pay market rent to the Government (which is not currently assessed on a community use basis)

We have been listening to the feedback from our members to the message about the new stabling prices at WPNEC. It is clear that there have been some misunderstandings which it is important that we clarify.

Effectively the stable hire has moved back to what it was in 2014. Stables are available for hire and optional bedding is available for purchase. The only change is the introduction of a bond for stable cleaning. This has been necessary as a number of users neither paid for cleaning nor cleaned their stable.

A-E block stables are $37 per night, which is $1 more than it was in September 2014. The Old barn stables are $49. (The Old Barn requires greater man hours to clean ) A stable cleaning bond of $30 will be refunded to the hirer’s credit card after your stable has been deemed to be completely cleaned with all bedding removed. However if it is not cleaned, the $30 will be retained to pay for your stable cleaning. If you wish, you may take your bedding home with you.

Optional stable bedding is available for purchase from WPNEC. This is ‘A ‘ grade quality pine shavings to use in stables and yards at $14.50 per bale delivered to your stable and opened. If you wish to bring your own bedding please be advised that at this stage, only pine shavings may be used. Straw costs WPNEC much more to remove from the venue than shavings.

The venue has moved back to replaceable bedding for various reasons and many of you have contributed your thoughts and ideas towards making that decision. Two significant expenses come from stable cleaning and removing the stable bedding from the venue. We are exploring ways of decreasing the second cost and I welcome any ideas you may have. The venue needs constant upkeep and maintenance and it is surprising how often repairs have to be made to the stables, power, lights and water. We have also needed to replace a large number of wheel barrows, shovels, brooms and pooper scoopers which have been unlawfully removed from the venue.

The pricing decision has been made with considerable thought, effort and regret, but precisely represents the cost of the service.
